Evelyn Lynett (Waddell) Harding

March 15, 1951 — November 3, 2025

Evelyn Lynett Harding was born on March 15, 1951, in South Carolina.  A visitation will he held at Belk Funeral Home in Darlington on Wednesday, November 12th, from 1 to 2 pm. With a graveside service following at Darlington Memorial Gardens at 2pm.

She spent more than 50 years in Michigan, where she built a life rooted in hard work, family, and friendship. Evelyn worked for General Motors, where her dedication and strong work ethic earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues.

Evelyn had a passion for gardening and could often be found tending to her flowers, finding peace and joy in watching them bloom. She loved to sing. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed watching Criminal Minds—never missing an episode.

Evelyn is survived by her children: Candi Sims of Darlington, Karen (Tom) Niederquell of Kansas, and Joseph S. Ham of Darlington; her grandchildren: Allen (Bobbi) Ham, Adam (Emily) Sims, Kacey Sims, Joshua (Heather) Niederquell, Jessica (Tom) Flikkie, and David (Kat) Niederquell; and several great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her siblings, Deborah (Larry) Rayfield of Chesterfield, and Faye (Allan) Street of Santee, and by her sister-of-the-heart, Loretta Davis. Along with her numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her husband Carmon Harding, her parents Lonnie Polk Waddell, Jr.  and Sara Douglas Waddell, her siblings Wayne Waddell, Janice Karam, and Betty Rogers; her beloved daughter Kimberly R. Ham; and Fred Allen.

Evelyn will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she shared so freely with family and friends. Her memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her.
