Anita Gainey

Ethel Anita Gainey, 65, died suddenly at her home on August 3rd, 2026. A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 6th at 3 pm at BelK Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the Funeral Home. 

Anita was born on August 30th, 1960, in Darlington, SC, to the late Barney and Mildred Cagle Collins. She was described as a “simple lady” who always made her grandkids her first priority. Anita loved her family, a clean house, and flowers. Her family lovingly joked that you couldn’t hardly get in the door of the house and she would have a broom sweeping behind you!

She is survived by her husband of over 40 years; Ronnie Eugene Gainey, children; Bobby Griggs, Tina (David) Weatherford, and Amanda Gainey, 7 grandchildren; Tyler Weatherford, Jazlyn Weatherford, Natalie Weatherford, April Weatherford, Meagan Thompson, Christopher Reiff, Colin Reiff, Melissa Griggs, and great grandchild; Phoenix Thompson.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents; Barney and Mildred Cagle Collins, siblings; Charlie Collins, Glenn Collins, Harold Collins, and children; Niki Gainey and Randy Griggs.
