It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elden "Butch" Grey Cook, age 81, on Sunday, July 27, 2025. Butch a beloved husband, father, and friend, was born on November 21, 1943, in Siler City, NC, and made his home in Darlington, SC. Butch was known for his hardworking spirit and dedication to his job as a truck driver with Welco-Hess. Though he didn't complete a formal education, his hands-on experience and commitment to his work told a story of resilience and determination. He loved the open road, where he found freedom and adventure behind the wheel. He enjoyed buying and selling collectables, NASCAR, gardening, playing computer games, and going to the gym.
Butch is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Cook; his son, Robert Cook; and his daughter, Jessica (Clay) Wagner. Their grandchildren: Makala Matthews, Rob and Damien Cook, Janie, Hannah, and Ryder Wagner and Katrina Turner. His siblings: Brenda Mabe and Colon Cook. Along with many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, and many beloved cats.
Preceding him in death are his parents Robert Cook and Mallie Brinkley Cook, his brothers Dallas Cook and Roland Cook.
He will be missed deeply by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. *Per Butch's wishes there will be no service*
