Edward Darrell Talbert

Edward Darrell Talbert, age 83, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017. Funeral services will be held 3:00pm Sunday, October 8th in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home, with burial following in Grove Hill Cemetery. Born April 26, 1934, Darrell is the son of the late Wade Henry Talbert, and the late Curtis Easterling Talbert. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked in maintenance at Maytag, and also worked as a truck driver and an electrician. He served in the Darlington Moose Lodge for 47 years, and was awarded the office of Pilgrim in the Moose Lodge 595. Darrell was a Commander in the V.F.W. number 318,1and also served as District Commander for many years. Darrell enjoyed people and having a good laugh with them. He was a member of the former Vision Assembly Church in Darlington. Surviving are his wife, Brenda M. Talbert of Florence; his daughter, June D. Talbert of Hartsville; his sons, Chris Talbert of Hartsville, and Eddie Talbert of Myrtle Beach; his grandchildren, Lindsey, William, Alexander, Katie, Justin, Josh, and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his step-sons, Terry (Kelly) Montrose, Tracy Montrose, Joey Thompson, a number of step-grandchildren, and a special step-granddaughter, Kayla Montrose; his sister, Vera Mae French of Darlington, and his special pet, Sugar Baby. He was preceded in death by his son, Dicky Lee Talbert; three brothers, and one sister. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Saturday at Belk Funeral Home.
