Douglas James Carter

Douglas James Carter, 69, died on Monday, September 21, 2026. A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 24th, at 4 pm at Southside Free Will Baptist church. A visitation will follow immediately after at his sister’s house, 129 W McIver Rd.

Born on November 9, 1956, in Georgetown, Douglas was the son of the late James and Martha Carter. He was a dedicated employee of Dixie Cup, where he worked in maintenance. A devoted member of Southside Free Will Baptist Church, Douglas had a servant's heart and found great joy in helping others. Whether cleaning the church or lending a helping hand wherever needed, he was always willing to give his time and talents to those around him.

Douglas had a lifelong passion for cars and especially enjoyed spending weekends with his brother, Frank, traveling to car shows. A proud owner of several show cars himself, he loved sharing his enthusiasm for automobiles with fellow car enthusiasts. Rarely seen without his signature cowboy hat and boots, Douglas had a personality that was all his own. His love for his church, passion for cars, and willingness to serve others will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Carter, daughter; Kelly Frankenstein, sister, Sheila Brown, and brother; Frank Carter. 

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents listed above; James and Martha Carter.
