Dorothy Ervin (Law) Martin

Dorothy Ervin Law Martin, age 94, of Darlington, SC, passed away on September 5, 2024. Mrs. Martin was the youngest child of William Player Law, Sr. and Dorothy Conyers Ervin Law of Darlington. She was married to Chester Thomas Martin, Jr. for 45 years. "Miss Dot" was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her four older brothers, William Player Law, Jr., James Bradley Law, David Ervin Law and Augustus McIver Law, and her older sister, Louise Law Wilson.

"Miss Dot" enjoyed golfing, bridge clubs, circle meetings, cooking and her family and friends. She worked and volunteered in several churches as secretary over the years. She was a caregiver to many of her family members. She was known by many names; Mama, Grandma Dot, Gigi, DotDot, Aunt Dot, Aunt Pokey Dot, Miss Dot and M.O.M.

She was blessed with and survived by her five children; Todd (Ginger) Martin of Prosperity, Jimmy (Suzi) Martin of Irmo, Bobby (Susan E) Martin of Bishopville, Dolly (Glenn) Carter of Florence, and Alice (John M) Vasseur of Hartsville. Also, eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great great-granddaughters.

"Miss Dot" had a great number of nieces, nephews and cousins she regarded as her own. These, along with several "adopted" children, were blessed to be loved by her and she was loved in return. Her love and humor will be missed by many.

The family wishes to thank Heritage Home Nursing Facility, McLeod Hospice and her many visitors (family and friends) for the care and company their mother received during her stay.

A visitation for Mrs. Martin will take place on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from the times of 1:00pm until 2:00pm in Belk Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm in the chapel, with a private family burial following the service in Grove Hill Cemetery.
