Dorothy Watford Alexander, 92, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024 surrounded by her family.
Funeral services for Dorothy, will be held in the Chapel of Belk Funeral Home in Lamar, South Carolina on February 9th, 2024 at 3pm. Interment to follow in the Cemetery of Pine Grove United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2pm-3pm.
Dorothy was born in Darlington County, on November 14th, 1931, Daughter of the late Bunyon Watford, Sr. and Merse Watford. Dorothy spent many years working in fields and tending to her children. She was beloved mother who spent many days singing "How Far is Heaven" by Kitty Wells to her Children. This is one memory her kids remember fondly. She was raised of Holiness Faith and attended Will of Faith Baptist Church. She was an avid reader of the Holy Bible where she has made numerous check marks in for every time that she read that passage of scripture.
Surviving are six Children, Christine Dotts of Bishopville, Kathleen Hollman of Bishopville, Woodrow "Wilson" Alexander(Sara Beth) of Darlington, Janice Tapp (Terrell) of Effingham, Matha Amerson of Liberty, North Carolina, and Charlie Alexander of Timmonsville. One Sister, Pearl Coleman of Bishopville. 13 Grandchildren, 19 Great- grandchildren, and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her late Husband, Woodrow Alexander. Siblings, Bunyon "Kisseye" Watford Jr., Carroll Watford, Derrick "Buddy" Watford, Louise Knotts, Frankie Knotts, Jeanette Huneycutt, and Margaret Crane. Additionally, two of her beloved grandchildren, Jerry Hollman and Kristopher Alexander.
