Doris Smith Jones

Doris Smith Jones, age 91 passed away in her home Thursday, February 26, 2016. Funeral service will be held 3:30pm Sunday, February 28th at Central Baptist Church in Darlington directed by Belk Funeral Home. Born September 28, 1924, Doris is the daughter of the late Goldie Lambert and James B. Smith. She worked in the lunchroom for Darlington County Schools and was vice president of the Grace Sunday School Class. Doris was a member of the Good Time Band, the West End Reunion, and enjoyed visiting people in nursing homes. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughters, Pat (Ed) Justus of Claudeville, VA, Sandra (Jerry) Bryant of Darlington, Susan (Wayne) Smith of St. Matthews, Janet Hancock, Cindy Evans; her son, Al Jones, all of Darlington; twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a special care giver, Bobbie Jean Blackmon. She was predeceased by her husband, A.C. "Fuzz" Jones, and all of her siblings. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Saturday at Belk Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Sandra Bryant, 516 Gilchrist Rd. and at Mrs. Jones home, 204 Windham Ave. Darlington. Memorials may be made to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund, 512 Spring St. Darlington, SC 29532.
