Mrs. Doris Griggs Bryant went home to the Lord on Wednesday, April 29th, 2026. A visitation is being held for her at Belk Funeral Home on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, from 5 to 7 pm. A graveside service will be held Sunday at 3pm at Harris Creek Baptist Cemetery in Society Hill, South Carolina.
Doris was born September 20, 1945, to the late Gary Griggs and Ruth O’Neal Griggs in Hartsville, SC. She met and married the love of her life Jerry Dean Bryant. Together they started a family and had three children together Barbara, Thomas and Jerri Lea. Doris loved to cook for others, listen to music, and loved her family deeply. Doris dedicated many years of her professional life to Derry’s Bookkeeping and Tax Service, Inc., where she served as a Front Office Manager before her retirement. Doris was known for her strong work ethic, friendly nature, and the warmth she brought to everyone she encountered.
Doris had a wonderfully witty spirit and a personality that could brighten any room. More than anything, she treasured the time she spent with those she loved.
She prided herself in being the family caregiver and always being the “one” that took care of things.
She leaves behind her children Barbara (Vick) Williams of Florence, SC and Thomas (Cindy) Bryant of Hartsville, SC. Her eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Along with her siblings: Beatrice Gainey, Bernice Bellamy, and Joyce Griggs.
Preceding her in death is her husband Jerry Bryant, their daughter Jerri Lea Thompson, her parents Gary and Ruth, her siblings: Homer Watford, Gene Gainey, Gary Griggs, Jr., Bobby Griggs, and infant brothers Cecil and Billy Griggs.
Doris will be missed greatly by her family and those that knew her.
