Donald Reese Poole

Donald Reese Poole, age 86, entered the gates of Heaven on September 2, 2022. Born on December 13, 1935 in Thomasville, NC, Donald was the son of the late George Reese Poole and Gertrude Ingram Poole.

He graduated from Fair Grove High School and then Gardner-Webb Jr. College. After spending two years in United States Army, he completed his education at Pfeiffer College. For 50 plus years Coach Poole taught school and coached at Lamar High School and was known as "Big Daddy" to many of his former students and athletes. He faithfully attended Lamar First Baptist Church and taught the Men's Sunday school class.

He is survived by his sons, Alan (Kathy) Poole, Charlie (Laura) Poole, grandchildren: Reece (Brittany) Poole, Miles Poole, Josh Poole, Caleb Poole, Jarrett Poole; great-grandchildren, Harper, August and Oliver Poole; and a life-long friend, Jimmy Newsom.

Memorials may be made to the Lamar High School Athletic Booster Club, 216 N. Darlington Ave., Lamar SC 29069 or to your home church.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 on Monday, September 5, 2022 in the gym at Lamar High School. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 with burial afterwards in Lamar Memorial Cemetery.
