Daniel "Bubba" Stokes, Jr., age 93, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024. A visitation will take place on Monday, January 15th in Belk Funeral Home from 2:00pm until 3:00pm, with a funeral service following at 3:00pm in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Grove Hill Cemetery immediately following the service.
Bubba was born in Florence on March 9, 1930, he is the son of the late Daniel Stokes and Thelma Blackwell Poston. Bubba had a passion for the automobile parts industry, starting at the age of 12 delivering parts on his bicycle. He went on to work with Standard Parts in Darlington for several years and later became the owner of Standard Parts for 48 years after buying them out in 1968. Bubba was also a Shriner for 60 years and a former Mason. Bubba never met a stranger, he always loved talking to and getting to know new people, but above all was his family he cherished every moment he got to spend time with them. Bubba was a member of Central Baptist Church in Darlington.
Bubba is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Ronnie) Hanniford, grandson, Dange (Kinsey "CC") Hanniford, great-grandson, Daniel Hanniford, and his great-grand dog, Champ. He is also survived by his cousin who was like a sister, Gwen Blackwell Newton.
In addition to his parents, Bubba is preceded in death by his wife, Leora Clements Stokes and his brother Johnny "Ace" Stokes.
