Daiford Hodge, age 69, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 18 in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home, with burial following in Grove Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, and other times at 1057 Georgeanna Ln. Darlington. Born January 20, 1949, Daiford is the son of the late Clayton Hodge and Bernice Merritt Hodge. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Daiford loved to work. He worked as a master electrician and was owner of Hodge's Electrical Service, and was a contractor for Nucor for over 40 years. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Myrtle Watford Hodge; children, Tammy (Gerald) Hodge Griggs, Daiford Dennis (Susan) Hodge, Michael Hodge, Crystal (Jimmy) High, Billy (Kaye) Watford; grandchildren, Matt Griggs, Josh Griggs, Ashley Griggs, Nolan Hodge, Ariana Hodge, Briana Hodge, Caleb Hodge, Delaney Grace Hodge, Jacob Shoemake, Rush High, Jackson High, and Somone Grier; sisters, Linda (James) Gainey, Mabel (Terrell) Todd, Reatha "Tinny" (Robert Earl George) Tyler, Karen (David) Hursey, Cathy (Tommy) Wilson, Viola Oakley. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Loraine Gainey, Gene Hodge, Wayland Hodge, and Doris Hodge.
