It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Benjamin Coleman Flowers, known affectionately as "Colekat" on October 29, 2024. Coleman was born on November 16, 1989, and grew up with a spirit that was golden—one that brought a smile to everyone's face. He was a son, partner, stepfather, brother, cousin, friend, and mentor, leaving an unforgettable legacy of warmth and kindness.
Coleman graduated from Trinity Colegiate School in 2007 and pursued his passions at both Coker College and Francis Marion University. He was an incredibly talented artist, musician, and welder, with a hidden talent for singing. His skill on the piano and guitar was unmatched, and he loved creating music that reflected his unique spirit.
Coleman was cherished by his father, Jesse (Jessica) Flowers, his sister Madison Flowers (fiancé Aaron Collins) and his brother Jon (Maria Mitropoulos) Flowers, his partner, Brandi Philips and dogs Ellie and Luna. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dora Lynn Howell Flowers whom he loved beyond words.
Coleman was known for his calm demeanor and his deep love for music and cooking. He had the ability to carry on deep conversations that would leave everyone with a fresh perspective on life. His presence was a gift that brought out the best in everyone he met, and he was always there for those he loved.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 3, at Belk Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2024, at Mt. Elon Baptist Church.
Coleman's memory will live on through his family, friends, and all who were touched by his light and love. Donations in his name can be made to the Darlington Humane Society.
