Cliff Atkinson

September 30, 1931 — December 17, 2023

James Clifton "Cliff" Atkinson, age 92, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 20th in Black Creek Baptist Church from the times of 2:00pm until 3:00pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 3:00pm, with burial immediately following in the church cemetery.

Cliff was born in Britton's Neck, SC on September 30, 1931, he is the son of the late William Woodberry Atkinson and May Belle Tindall Atkinson. He went on to join the United States Air Force after graduating from high school and was a Teletype Mechanic stationed in Germany. After leaving the service he worked as a mailman for USPS in Florence for many years until his retirement. Cliff was a long-time member of Black Creek Baptist Church; he sang in the choir and was a Deacon Emeritus in the church. He always cherished spending time and taking care of his family, especially his grandchildren. Cliff also enjoyed being out on the water fishing.

Surviving Cliff is his wife of 67 years, Rose Hudson Atkinson, his son, Timothy (Barbara) Atkinson, and two grandchildren, McClain Atkinson and Karli Atkinson and many other extended family members.

In addition to his parents, Cliff is preceded in death by his siblings: David Atkinson, H.B. Atkinson, Julia Bell Richardson, Eloise Ammons, W.J. Atkinson, Harmon Atkinson, Dora Letha Atkinson, and Wanda Atkinson.

In memory of Cliff memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice or Black Creek Baptist Church at 137 Mont Clare Road Darlington, SC 29540.
