Charles "Sonny" Howard

Charles "Sonny" E. Howard, age 72, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022 at his residence.  The family will receive friends Sunday, September 11 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm in Belk Funeral Home in Darlington. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 12, 2022 at 3:00pm in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home in Darlington, with burial following at Lamar Cemetery.

Sonny was born on October 7, 1949 in Clarendon County, SC. He is the son of the late John E. Howard and Marjorie Morris Howard. Sonny worked with the Timmonsville Police Department as a police officer and did power line construction with Sumter Utilities for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Dority Howard, children; Linda (Timmy Walker) Ryals of Lamar, Tammy (Doug Owens) Johnson of Timmonsville, Charles E (Ede) Howard, Jr. of Timmonsville, grandchildren: Christina (Charles) Taylor, Angela (Paul) Corker, Eden (Adam) Dail, Caroline Howard, Hunter Johnson, great-grandchild, K.J. Taylor, sisters, Hilda (Ronnie) Woods of Timmonsville, Lillie Lynch of Timmonsville, Dorothy "Candy" Lynch of Timmonsville, Mattie Ham of Timmonsville, brother, Ronnie (Wanda) Howard of Timmonsville, and an abundance of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by a sister, Joann Strickland and a brother, John "Buddy" Howard.
