Darlington - Bobby Almond Cooke, age 83, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015. Funeral service will be held 3:00pm Sunday, January 3rd in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home, with a graveside service with military honors following at Grove Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Born May 25, 1932, Bobby is the son of the late Dorothy Riles and the late Marvin Cooke. He retired after 20 years of service in the U.S. National Guard, and then retired from Dixie Cup after 41 years. Bobby also worked part-time on the police department for 18 years, and as a deputy U.S. Marshal for three years, as well as a city councilman, and 50 years as a Mason. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church for 80 years, and attended Lake Swamp Baptist Church.
Surviving are his son, Michael (Dawn) Cooke, and his daughter, Cheryl (David) Jernigan, both of Darlington; his grandchildren, Jennifer and John Weatherford, Spring (Wade) Richardson, Amy (Charles) Veronesi, Jason (Amy) Cooke, Chris (Sheriko) Jernigan, Andrew (Tiffany) Cooke, Kasey (Trey) Tomlinson, and Kaylan Cooke, and ten great-grandchildren.
Bobby was predeceased by his wife, Jewel O'Neal Cooke, and his son, Marvin David Cooke.
