Bobby R. Chapman

Bobby R. Chapman, Sr. age 81, died Saturday, October 8, 2016. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, October 12, at Welsh Neck Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home. Born in Chesterfield County on April 11, 1935, he was the son of the late Willie Russell and Elsie Thomas Chapman. Mr. Chapman served in Korea while in the United States Army. He then went on to work as a deputy with the Darlington County Sheriff's Office for 18 years where he served as Chief Deputy. He was a member of Welsh Neck Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Terry S. Chapman of Society Hill, a son, Bobby R. "Rusty" (Jennie) Chapman, Jr. of Cash, two daughters; Patricia Chapman (Lester) Devine of Society Hill, Lynne Chapman (Ken) McRae of Dovesville, grandchildren: Jesse Ray "J.R." (Rachel) Chapman, Thomas E. (Kelley) Horne, Jr. Taylor Nicole Horne, Elizabeth M. McRae, Jackson Paul McRae, Samantha Lynne Devine, Kendall Ruth McRae, Russell Harris Devine; great grandchildren: Kaley Peninger, Raylan James Chapman; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Chapman was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Brazell and Emmie Griggs. The family will receive friends from 6:00 -8:00 Tuesday evening at Welsh Neck Baptist Church, 112 Church Street, Society Hill, SC 29593. Memorials may be made to your local Hospice.
