Billy Montique Carraway, Jr., age 58, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, with his sisters by his side after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at Belk Funeral Home in Lamar on Saturday, December 21st, at 3:00 PM, with a time to greet the family following the service. The family will also be receiving visitors at his sister Wendy's residence, located at 644 Bo Smith Road in Lamar.
Billy was born on December 15, 1966, in Florence County to the late Billy Montique Carraway, Sr. and Gwendolyn Amerson Carraway. In his younger years, he worked with American Luxury Coach and later Barn of All Trades. His love for fishing and hunting filled his free time, and he was a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan. Billy also enjoyed watching NASCAR, with Jeff Gordon's racing team being his favorite.
Billy is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Brian) Dunlap; his son, Brandon (Macey) Carraway; his grandchildren, Brandon Dunlap, Marley, and Ryder Carraway; his sisters, Wendy Windham and Brenda (Rip) Parnell; several nieces and nephews; and his good friend, Wayne Chandler.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his sister, Billie Jean Carraway, grandparents, Woodrow and Marie Amerson, Burris and Cora Carraway, and his brother-in-law, Gordon Windham.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to McLeod Hospice, McLeod Palliative Care, Center Well Home Health, and a special thank you to Cynthia Samuel for her exceptional care during Billy's final days.
