Billy Gandy

William C. "Billy" Gandy, 87, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022 in the Clemson Downs Retirement Community in Clemson, SC. Mr. Gandy was born in Darlington, SC, son of the late William Charles and Sue Esther Pitts Gandy.  He was a 1953 graduate of St. John's High School in Darlington, SC, and attended Clemson University. Known to many as "Billy Gandy", he was a farmer for 46 years and called Dovesville his home. He was a loving husband and father and a humble man of faith, who served God for many years as Church Clerk, Sunday School teacher and Deacon at Black Creek Baptist Church in Dovesville.  Billy was predeceased by his parents and one sister, Betty Sue Gandy of Darlington, SC and his wife of 55 years, Betty June Gandy. He is survived by children, William "Craig" (Phyllis) Gandy of Darlington and Pamela June (Albert) Hay of Pendleton; grandchildren, Ashley Gandy of Florence and Elizabeth Hay of Easley.

The family will receive friends at Belk Funeral Home in Darlington from 6:00 until 8:00  Tuesday evening, July 19, 2022. A memorial service to honor the life of Billy will be held on Wednesday, July 20,  2022, at 2:00 in Black Creek Baptist Church followed by burial at the Old Black Creek Cemetery in Darlington.

Billy was a cancer survivor and supporter of the MD Anderson Cancer Center.
