Billy Ray Amerson

September 27, 1948 – August 7, 2026

Billy Ray Amerson, beloved father, grandfather, family member, and friend, passed away on August 7, 2026 at the age of 77. He was a man whose life was marked by love, strength, kindness, and devotion to the people he held dear.

Born on September 27, 1948 in Lamar, South Carolina, Billy grew into a person who loved Jesus, valued family, helped others in need, and enjoyed the simple blessings of life. A farmer and decorated Vietnam Army Veteran, who served in the 1st Cavalry Division, he carried with him a spirit of strength, faith, and perseverance.

He is survived by his daughters, Tonya Marie Amerson, Dana Amerson Marinaro (Mike); and his step-daughter, Sierra Kelling; his beloved grandchildren Stephanie, Joshua, and Anthony, as well as Syndi, Penelope, and Patrick; his brothers Tommy, William, and Joe; and sister Carolyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles “Woodrow” Amerson and Marie Windham Amerson; his daughter, Crystal Gayle Amerson; his granddaughter Cooper, his brothers C.W., Albert, and Kenny; and sisters Mary Ethel and Gwen.

The family would also like to give a special honorable mention, with deep love and gratitude, to his caregiver, Robin Stump, for the loving compassion and kindness she provided while helping to care for Billy.

A memorial service will be held on September 5, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Belk Funeral Home in Lamar, South Carolina. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at the home of Wendy Windham (644 Bo Smith Rd.) in remembrance, to share stories, and celebrate a life that meant so much to so many.

Though Billy will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing that his faith gave him peace and hope. His love remains a lasting gift, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
