Rev. Billie F. Fryar, Sr., age 83, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, May 22nd in the Lamar Chapel at Belk Funeral Home, with burial following in Will of Faith Cemetery in Lamar. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home in Lamar.
Born September 2, 1933 in Gouldbusk, TX, Rev. Fryar is the son of the late Fred Fryar and Eula Mae West Morris. He served four years in the U.S. Marine Corp, and then attended Piedmont Bible College. He was a member of the American Legion, and was the founder of the Area Rescue Mission now House of Hope of the Pee Dee. He was a member of West Florence Baptist Church.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Emogene Rogers Fryar of Lamar; his children, Janice (John) Kaess of Jacksonville, FL, Pastor Freddie (Kathy) Fryar of Rainelle, WV, Steve (Teri) Fryar of Thomasville, NC; daughter-in-law, Sara Fryar of King, NC; his grandchildren, Michael, Aaron, Hailey, Anna, Jeremy, Tabitha, Rebecca, Caleb, Danielle, Scott, Chris, and a number of great-grandchildren; his brothers, Robert (Karen) Fryar, and Dean (Peggy) Fryar; his sister, Betty (Joe) Devera; a special brother-in-law, Bud Rogers, and a special sister-in-law, Jackie Shealey.
