Bill Parnell

William "Bill" A. Parnell, Sr., age 90 died Tuesday, November 23, 2021. A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 27th in the Lamar chapel at Belk Funeral Home with burial following at Lamar Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home in Lamar.

Born in Darlington on July 15, 1931, Bill was the son of the late George Lynn Parnell and Estella Brown Parnell Collins. Bill served in the Army National Guard for 33 years, and later worked at Dixie Cup until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and loved being with his family.

Surviving are his children, Rocky (Belinda) Parnell of Florence, Connie (Jim) Cox of Gulf Breeze, FL, and Brenda Johnson of Lexington; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; step-daughters, Debra (Eddie) Gleaton and Kay (Jerry) Hatcher; brother, Harry Parnell of Lamar; and a special niece, Marian Odom.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Tallulah Kennedy Parnell; two sons, Robert Lynn Parnell and Jimmy Parnell of Hartsville; step-daughter, Johnnie Taylor; brother, G.L. Parnell; and sister, Wilma Hendricks.
