Betty Jean Miles

Betty Jean Mathis Miles, age 77, died Saturday March 4, 2017 at her son's home in Effingham. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 7th at 7:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 7:00pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Betty was born in Darlington on June 1, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Otis and Hazel McKenzie Watkins. She worked for Krispy Kreme in Florence for over thirty years, starting and the location on Irby St. and then retiring from the Palmetto Street location. Mrs. Miles loved her family and enjoyed the time she spent with each one of them. She was a member of Great Commission Ministries in Darlington. Surviving are her sons: James Clinton (Louise) Davis of Florence, David "Allen" (Carolyn) Davis of Effingham and Bruce Mathis of Darlington; and her grandson, Hunter Gavin Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Franklin Davis.
