Betty Mccaskill Kirven

Betty McCaskill Kirven, age 87, passed away Tuesday, November 07, 2017. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 10th in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home, with burial following in Swift Creek Cemetery. Born September 19, 1930, Betty is the daughter of the late Joseph Marion McCaskill and Ola V. Hall McCaskill. She worked at Dixie Cup for over 30 years, and she enjoyed playing in the Good Time Band. She was known for having a green thumb, and was the glue of her family. She was a member of Praise Temple Church in Hartsville. Surviving are her children, Sarah K. (Bill) Garland, Lewis D. (Kathy) Kirven, Cathy Y. Kirven (Wayne Stuart), and Leon M. Kirven; her grandchildren, Billy (Dana) Garland, Shawn (Connie) Garland, Sarah Lehr (David) Gandy, Russ (Sharon) Rogers, Kelly (Les) Galloway, Caren (Austin) Oates, Jay Jay (Martin) Stark, Lon (Sydney) Kirven, Matthew Kirven, Marion Kirven, and Marlon Kirven; 14 great-grandchildren, her brother-in-law, R.L. Kirven, and her sister-in-law, Arcola Stokes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer Kirven; her sister, Inez Turner; her brothers, A.W., Ernest, Joseph, Harold, and James McCaskill. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Belk Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Sarah and Bill Garland, 127 Alabama Dr. Darlington. The family would like to thank Dr. Parker Lilly and the staff at Medford Nursing Home and McLeod Hospital.
