Betty L. Haywood

Betty L. Osby Haywood, of Darlington, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025. She was 84 years old. A visitation celebrating her life will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Belk Funeral Home Chapel in Darlington.

Betty was born on April 19, 1941, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late Benjamin Osby and Carrie James Osby. She worked for many years on a factory line, helping create the elements used in light bulbs—work she approached with dedication and pride.

In her free time, Betty found joy in simple pleasures: shopping, visiting Wal-Mart, spending cherished moments with her family and grandchildren, and enjoying her favorite ice cream. She loved keeping a beautiful collection of church hats and suits, and she delighted in being surrounded by the people she cared for. She also adored caring and loving for Kayoni and Camden who kept her going within. Betty was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Timmonsville.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren: Parrie, Mark, Noel, Gary, China, Latisha, Vanessa, Mark, Cerez, Anthony, and Melquawn; her stepson, Robert Haywood Jr.; daughters-in-law Autherine Haywood and Tee Nicholson; her nephew, Michael Osby; her stepsisters, Lucy James and Lillie Mae; and eight great-grandchildren. Including her beloved church family at Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Haywood Sr.; her parents, Benjamin and Carrie; her son, Eric; her grandchild, Charmel; and her siblings, Venger, Benjamin, M.L., and Jamel.

Betty will be remembered for her warm spirit, her love of family, and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
