Anne C. Warr

Anne Carter Warr, 88, died on Sunday, July 19th, 2026. Born January 2nd, 1938, on Boykin Street, Lamar, SC (Lee State Park Road) the daughter of Willie James and Roberta Smoot Carter. She was the wife of Robert A. Warr, Sr., deceased in 2021.

She attended Lamar Schools and graduated from Coker College, Magna Cum Laude. A member of Lamar Methodist Church, having served on the Administrative Council, President of LUMW, Worship Chair, and other various committees. She was a member of the National Society of Daughters of American Colonists for over 44 years.

Anne was very interested in her community and county, having served on the Regional Council of Governments for 10 years, a member of the SC Association of Regional Councils State Board for 2 years, and a member of Darlington County Council for 20 years.

She also served on the Coker College Alumni Board, Habitat for Humanity, Darlington County Soil Conservation, and Lamar Memorial Cemetery Board of Directors.

Anne was a partner in the Golden Leaf Tobacco Warehouse of Lamar and Lake City for many years. She was honored with the 1998 Hartsville Chamber of Commerce Women’s award for “Business Woman of the Year.” Anne retired from Coker College as a Director of Evening Admissions in 2003.

She is survived by daughter; Scarlett W. Thomas of Lamar, son; William J. "Jim" Woods (Wendy) of Florence, sister-in-law; Shari Carter of Lamar, grandchildren; Jaye Woods of Manning, SC, Thomas Woods of Birmingham, Alabama, Sarah Hannah (Franklin) Williams of Lamar, Ellie Gee of Florence, and great-grandchildren; Lillian and Julie Williams of Lamar.

Anne is predeceased by her parents listed above, her husband listed above, sister; Roberta Jeffords, brother; Ben Carter, and brother-in-law; Scotty Jeffords.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 Thursday evening at Belk Funeral Home in Lamar.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Lamar United Methodist Church with burial following in Lamar Memorial Cemetery.
