Ruthie Angie Thompson Hyman, age 70, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, due to complications of Parkinson's disease. A visitation will take place on Thursday, November 21st in Belk Funeral home from the times of 2:00pm until 3:00pm. A funeral service will be held in the chapel at 3:00pm, with burial immediately following the service in Grove Hill Cemetery. The family will be accepting visitors at the home of Sheila and Jim Leach, 220 Country Club Rd., of Darlington.
Angie was born in Florence to the late Theo Robert Thompson and Hazel Melissa Buie Thompson on July 18, 1954. She worked at Southern Bell while she was attending high school at St. John's and graduated in 1972. Angie worked for Pearl Street Furniture for 1 years then moved into the medical field and worked at Florence Dialysis for 11 years. She then became a teacher's aide for the Darlington County School District, where she helped with special needs children for 18 years. Angie was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving Angie is her husband of 36 years, Daniel Franklin Hyman, Jr., her son, Tony (Heather) Heape of Mechanicsville, grandchildren, Haley Heape, Hunter Heape, Gracie Heape, Brittney Vanadia, Zachary and Noah Brafford. She is also survived by her sisters, Sheila (Jim) Leach of Darlington and Wanda (Jim) Pettus of Clover, SC. Her sisters-in-law, Sarah (Jimmy) Warr, Carolyn (Jerry) Johnson, all of Mechanicsville. Nephew Jason (Jennifer) Warr of Carmel of Indiana, niece Amber (Alex) Rodgers of Darlington, niece Jennifer Pettus of Orlando, Florida, and her feline friends, Lynx, Tater, and Little Bit.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her canine companion, Chester.
