Alvin Richard Mccormick

Alvin Richard McCormick, age 82 passed away Friday, August 27, 2021. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 30th at Mechanicsville Baptist Church with burial following at Darlington Memory Gardens, directed by Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church. Military Honors will be provided by the Florence Veteran's Honor Guard.

Born on August 29, 1938, Alvin was the son of the late Johnny McCormick and Roxie Rogers McCormick. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam War. He retired in 1975 after 20 years of service. He was Manager of Maintenance for McLeod Hospital and retired after 21 years. Alvin was a member of Mechanicsville Baptist Church where he and his wife worked as the maintenance team for 12 ½ years.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Lewis McCormick; daughter, Belinda (Kyle) Lane of Darlington; son, Mike McCormick of Darlington; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Wehking of Illinois, Faye Farley of Alabama, Joyce (Richard) Potter of Washington, Betty Amos; brother, Shelby (Nancy) McCormick; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Allen McCormick and Robert McCormick; sisters, Geneva Strickland, Vivian Moody, Wanda "Bunny" Coker, Barbara "Bobbie" Moser; brothers, John McCormick, and Earl McCormick.
