Alex Mendoza Cervantes

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alex Mendoza Cervantes, who left us on Saturday, March 15th, 2025, after a brief illness. A visitation will be held Sunday March 23nd at Belk Funeral Home in Darlington at 2 to 4pm.  With funeral services following in the Belk Chapel 4pm, with burial immediately following at Grove Hill Cemetery.

Alex was born on February 26, 2008, to Kelvin Antonio Aguilera and Heather Nicole Buck Aguilera. He was a devoted student at Darlington High School, where he actively participated in JROTC and was a proud member of the school's Gamer Club. Alex had a passion for learning, especially when it came to carpentry, a skill he cherished through his father's teachings. He had recently gotten his driver's permit and was looking forward to taking his driver's education class this summer. He was enjoying learning Spanish at school and was hoping to be an equipment operator, once he graduated.

Beyond his hobbies, Alex was known for his easy-going nature and willingness to listen to others, always offering a kind ear—even on days when he was not feeling his best. As the oldest sibling, he loved helping and spending time with Renae, Hannah, Mia, Kassie, and Kelvin Aguilera, Jr., and was a positive and loving presence in their lives.

Alex leaves behind his heartbroken parents, Kelvin and Heather Aguilera, his siblings, Renae, Hannah, Mia, Kassie, and Kelvin Aguilera, Jr., and his loving grandparents, Lynn & William Buck, and Nolvia Aguilera. He is also survived by uncles Zachary Buck and his numerous aunts and uncles from his father's side, along with many cousins and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

Alex's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his memory will live on through the love he gave to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
