Laverne McKnight Obituary
Laverne W. McKnight, age 68, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, May 15th at Darlington First Church of God with burial following at Grove Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 pm at Belk Funeral Home, and other times at the home, 405 Arabian St. Darlington.
Laverne was born on November 16, 1950. He was the son of the late Brunson O. McKnight and Mildred Lynch McKnight. He retired from Nucor Steel after 40 years. Laverne enjoyed being with his family, fishing, camping, going to flea markets, and was a father figure to many people. He was a member of Darlington First Church of God.
Surviving are his wife, Faye F. McKnight; children, Vernon (Missy) McKnight, Regenia (Trent) Avin, Shannon McKnight, Cathy (Junior) Campbell, Johnny Ray (Kelly) Anderson, and Shawn Anderson, all of Darlington; grandchildren, Dawson and Abby McKnight, Ashley, Rian, and Grace Avin, Shelby and Dusty Campbell, Chelsy (Tyler) Sandifer, Savannah and Emily Anderson, Austin Anderson, Gradyn Beasley, and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Jay D. (Dannette) McKnight of Sumter; sisters, Connie McKnight of Camden, Dorothy McKnight of Hartsville, Mary (Joey) Holloway of Darlington, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Shelby Anderson, Mildred McKnight, Richard McKnight, and Ronnie McKnight.
