Jean Howle Obituary
Jean Henderson Howle, age 87, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 6th in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home, with burial following in Wells Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, and other times at the home, 2949 Lamar Hwy. Darlington.
Born February 9, 1931 in Ottawa Kansas, Jean is the daughter of the late Arthur William Henderson and Cora Moss Henderson. She worked for over 25 years at Dixie Cup starting as a Treater Operator, Jones Machine Operator, and then became the first female Treater Mechanic. She retired from Dixie Cup as a supervisor. Jean was a long time member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School director, kitchen committee member, and sang in the choir. Jean later attended Emanuel Baptist Church and served as a substitute Sunday school teacher and president of the Encouragers Class.
Surviving are her children, Ann H. Easterling and Danny "Dan" (Pat) Howle, both of Darlington; grandchildren, Katie Blackmon, Daniel (Carol) Howle, Candy (Brian) Faulds, Buddy Howle, Robbie (Heather) Howle, J. Mac (Lindsay) Easterling, Michael Easterling, and Matthew Easterling; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Ryan, and Aaric Howle, Cassidy and Conor Koon, Elizabeth Faulds, Blake Howle, Chloe Lynn Easterling, Haden and Ella Howle; her brother, Frank Henderson of Camden; her devoted neighbor, C.C. Kirby; and her beloved dogs, Maggie and Lady.
She was preceded in death by William Howle; sons, David Howle, Mike Howle; and her daughter, Billie Jean Blackmon; brother, Keith Henderson; sisters-in-law, Ruth and Earlene Henderson; and baby sister, Margie Henderson.
The family would like to thank her special caregivers, Kathleen Coker, Patty Windham, Frances Isaac, Von Benson, and Agape Hospice.
