Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Anita D. Flowers, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018. She was born in Florence, South Carolina on August 12, 1930; the daughter of the late James Wesley Dingle and Erna Huel Dingle. She attended Winthrop College and upon graduating, taught elementary school in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Florida. Anita also taught the children of US Army service members in Japan, Germany, and France.
Anita was a devoted member of St. Luke Lutheran Church where she married her husband of 56 years, C.V. Flowers. She was very active in the life of St. Luke, serving as a Sunday school teacher, on church councils, and on various committees. She enjoyed volunteering with many different organizations, especially Lighthouse Ministries and the Manna House.
Anita was preceded in death by a brother, James Dingle; sisters, Frances Hartley and Jean Martin. She is survived by her husband, C.V. Flowers; sons, Vince Flowers, Keith Flowers (Elizabeth); grandchildren, Henry and Grayson Flowers; sister-in-law, Joyce Dingle, and many special nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, November 1st at St. Luke Lutheran Church, with funeral service following at 2:30 p.m. at the church, directed by Belk Funeral Home. The family will hold a private burial following the service at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
