Bennie Neil Gregory
4/12/1958 - 5/13/2011



Bennie Neil Gregory, age 53, died Friday, May 13, 2011 at the McLeod Hospice House.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 on Sunday, May 15 at the First Church of God in Darlington, with burial following in Darlington Memory Gardens, directed by Belk Funeral Home.


Born April 12, 1958 in Florence, he was the son of the late James Lee Gregory and the late Sallie Hill Gregory.  Bennie had worked as a lineman and a Construction Maintenance Planner for Santee Cooper for 28 years upon his retirement in December. He was an avid turkey hunter and very talented painter and woodworker.  Mr. Gregory was a member of the First Church of God.


Surviving are his wife, Linda Weatherford Gregory of Darlington, two daughters Lindsey Gregory (Chris) Byrd of Darlington, Missy Norwood (Vernon) McKnight, three grandchildren, Dawson McKnight, Abby McKnight, Avery Byrd, a brother, Richard Hammond Gregory of Florence, and a beloved pet dog Roxie.


The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday, May 14, at the Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Linda, I just today found out about Bennie and am so terribly sorry for your loss. Please know you and your girls are in our prayers. Bennie was such a wonderful person and Lamar First Baptist will never ever forget his portrayal of Jesus for our Christmas cantata.
