Pauline Miller Clifton, age 83, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the Hospice Care Center in Orange City, Florida. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday August 2, 2010 in Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Mrs. Clifton was born August 9, 1926 in Darlington County, daughter of the late Jesse and Janie Suggs Miller. She was the widow of Leslie E. “Droopy” Clifton, SR. She was retired from the Darlington Police Department as a Meter Maid for twenty years. Her job gave her a chance to share her faith by offering a helping hand to others. Mrs. Clifton was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Also, she was very active in the United Methodist Women’s Society.
Surviving are her son, Gene (Pam) Clifton, Jr. of Darlington, and daughter, Brenda (Woody) Dudley of Deltona, FL, six grandchildren: Leslie (Amy) Clifton, Haven Clifton, Chad Timmons, Paula (Dwayne) Twitty, four great-grandchildren, Cody Clifton, Carlie Clifton, Austin Twitty, Chase Twitty; two brothers: Elton B. (Mary) Miller of Darlington, Edwin Miller of Lancaster and one sister, Helen Mims of Darlington.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Sunday evening at Belk Funeral home and other times at the home of Gene Clifton, Jr., 437 Gilchrist Road, Darlington.
