David Wayne Moody
10/25/1962 - 7/27/2010



Lamar- David “Boobie” Wayne Moody, age 47, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at his residence.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 30 at Belk Funeral Home Chapel in LAMAR.

Born October 25, 1962 in Florence County, he is the son of Ellison Moody of Timmonsville and Clevie Amerson Cole of S. Boston, VA.  David served his country in the United States Navy and worked in the construction business.  He was an avid NASCAR fan.


Surviving in addition to his mother and father are a daughter, Laura Leigh Moody of S. Boston, VA, two sisters, Sheila Moody (Roy) Clark of Darlington, Kelly Moody of Timmonsville, step father, Henry Cole, step-mother, Judy Moody, step-sisters: Dana (Glen) Smith of Florence, Debra (Lee) Haley of Matthews, NC, Kim Sweitzer of Timmonsville, Jaime Brantley of Jackson, TN; step-brothers: Billy Gerald of Florence, Chris Cole of Wrightsville Beach, NC, Mark (Vanessa) Cole of S. Boston, VA, his fiancé, Becky Smith-Gregg of Timmonsville, special nieces, Shelly Rae Sizemore, Kristen Hipkiss, special nephews, Gregory Ellison Sizemore, Ron Moody, Jr., his maternal grandmother, Lucille Amerson of Lamar and a special dog, “Hershey Bar”.


He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Moody and grandparents, Gary Amerson, Russell Moody and Mattie Jordan.


The family will receive friends from 7-9 Thursday evening at Belk Funeral Home, LAMAR CHAPEL and other times at the home of Lucille Amerson, 303 East Jackson Street, Lamar.

I share the sadness with the family of David Moody. It's been almost 30 years since I've seen him. I can rembeer the positive energy he displayed in our high school years. He touched many people hearts the years he spent in South Boston, he will be missed.
