Francis Eugene Dabbs, age 80, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 in the McLeod Hospice House. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010 in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home with interment following in Grove Hill Cemetery.
Born December 10, 1929 in Bennettsville, SC, a son of the late Francis E. and Audrey Morgan Dabbs. Mr. Dabbs served his country in the United States Navy and the United States Air Force . He then made his living as a carpenter. He was a lifelong member of Black Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters: Debra D. (Jay) Norwood of Florence, Donna D. Smothers of Darlington, two sons, Gary E. (Jenez) Dabbs of Lydia, Francis Scott (Meghan) Dabbs of Darlington, four grandchildren: Angela (Jason) Pate, Lance Urga, Brandon Smothers and Cole (Jessica) Smothers; also, three great grandchildren: Dillon Price, Colby Pate, and Deacon Smothers; a sister, Gloria (Larry) Melton of Florida. Also, a special friend, Jeanette Hallman of Darlington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Dabbs.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.Wednesday evening at Belk Funeral Home and othertimes at the home of Donna Smothers, 1829 Hospitality Lane, Darlington.
