Edith Caldwell age 86, died Thursday, June 3,2010 in Bethea Baptist Retirement Community. Funeral Services will be 2:00 Sunday, June 6 at Bethea Baptist Church with interment following in Carter’s Ford Baptist Church Cemetery in Lodge, SC at 5:00 directed by Belk Funeral Home.


Edith Caldwell age 86, died Thursday, June 3,2010 in Bethea Baptist Retirement Community. Funeral Services will be 2:00 Sunday, June 6 at Bethea Baptist Church with interment following in Carter’s Ford Baptist Church Cemetery in Lodge, SC at 5:00 directed by Belk Funeral Home.

Born September 16, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Caldwell. Edith was a member of Carter’s Ford Baptist Church in Lodge, SC until age 18. She attended North Greenville Junior College, and graduated from Lander University. She worked as a dietician at North Greenville Junior College and then retired from Epworth Children’s Home in Columbia. She was a member and choir member of Bethea Baptist Church in Darlington.


Surviving are three sisters; Clarice C. Davis, May C. Reid both of Bethea Home, Susan C. Higgins of Charlotte, a brother; Edwin B. Caldwell of New Ellenton and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by John Caldwell Jr. and Rose C. Bozard: World World II Veterans; Mendel Caldwell Sr., Alvin Caldwell and Julian Caldwell.


 The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Bethea Batist Church.


Memorials may be made to Bethea Baptist Retirement Community 157 Home Ave., Darlington, SC 29532.


Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home is assisting with the burial in Lodge, SC.

While I began my work at Epworth long after Ms. Caldwell had retired, I have always heard wonderful stories about her great heart and service to the children and staff here. I know that she will be missed. She lived a unique life of ministry and faith to the least of these...

I greatly appreciated you at Epworth Children's Home. Im sure theother kids and definitely my sister does also. I wish you could see what Im doing with my life now.
