DARLINGTON- Lois Blackmon Rhodes, age 92, died Monday, May 10, 2010 at the McLeod Hospice House. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 on Wednesday, May 12, at Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home.
Born December 7, 1917 in Darlington County, she was the daughter of the late William Arthur Blackmon and the late Mamie Lewis Blackmon. Lois retired from Dixie Cup after 34 years of service. Mrs. Rhodes spent countless hours baking homemade cakes which were enjoyed by many people in the Darlington area. She was a member of High Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons: John Andrew "Andy" (Ann) Rhodes of Hartsville, William Francis (Sylvia) Rhodes of Marietta, GA, grandchildren: Billy, Van, Michael and Drew Rhodes; great-grandchildren: Steven, Jack, Aiden, Gavin and Olivia Rhodes and a number of nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special friends, Beatrice Poe, Evelyn Blackman and Jean Dowdy.
She was preceded in death by a son Robert "Bobby" Edward Rhodes, brothers: R.A., Francis, John Richard, Barry, and Furman Blackmon and a sister, Elizabeth R. Green.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:45 Wednesday at the funeral home.
