Elizabeth Abbott Kinley
10/14/1926 - 2/17/2010



DARLINGTON- Elizabeth Abbott Kinley, age 83, widow of Vernon C. Kinley, died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home at 11:00 on Saturday, February 20 with burial following at Sunset Memory Gardens in Charlotte.


 


Born October 14, 1926 in Darlington County, she is a daughter of the late Marion and Ethel Goodson Abbott. After Ethel Abbott’s death, Lib’s father married Ozelma Shelley, who raised Lib as one of her own. Mrs. Kinley worked in the medical field as a Registered Nurse and within her family, she enjoyed being the one family members depended on for their care. Lib was a member of First Baptist Church in Darlington, the Joy Sunday School Class and the Eloise Smyre Bible Study. She recently moved to Bethea Baptist Home and joined Bethea Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir.


 


Surviving are two brothers: Randolph Abbott and Roy Abbott both of Darlington, three sisters: Olivette A. Patterson of Darlington, Jean A. (Jerry) Leach of Cheraw, Betty A. Mims of Darlington, grandchildren: Sonya Kinley, Jason (Carrie) Kinley, Christopher Kinley, three great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Sheila Kinley, and several nieces and nephews.


 


In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Herbert C. Kinley, Vernon C. Kinley, Jr. and a brother, Warren Abbott.


 


The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at Belk Funeral Home.

To the family of Elizabeth. Please accept my condolence on her passing. She was so good to my Aunt LaWann during her illness. I will always be grateful to her for that. She will be missed by all.
