Lamar- Annie Lee Bell DuBose, age 90, died Tuesday, December 1, 2009, in Bethea Baptist Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 4, at Lamar United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Lamar Cemetery, directed by Belk Funeral Home, Lamar.
Born December 31, 1919 in Lee County, she was the daughter of James L. and Lelia Amerson Bell. Mrs. DuBose was a nurse for Dr. Boykin and Dr. Griffin for 35 years until her retirement at the age of 75. Annie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother with a passion for shopping. She was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her daughters: Janice (William) Johnson, Brenda (Runt) Grooms both of Hartsville, one son, Bobby DuBose of Darlington: five grandchildren: Angela Shumate, Mona Newsome, Bill Johnson, Clete DuBose, Cam DuBose, Five Great grandchildren: Josh Shumate, Zack Shumate, Hannah Newsome, Wells Newsome, and Conner Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband George Edward DuBose, and her siblings: Bell Watkins, Bertha Fields, Hennis Bell, and Legrand Bell.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 Thursday evening at Belk Funeral Home Chapel in Lamar and other times at the home of Brenda and Runt Grooms 1215 Crooked Creek Rd. Hartsville.
