June Hatchell Martin

June Hatchell Martin, age 76, passed away suddenly at her home on Monday, February 2, 2009. A Memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 4, directed by Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Born January 2, 1933 in rural Timmonsville, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Sadie Alexander Hatchell. June was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and her church. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Herbert Martin; a son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Terry Martin, grandchildren: Melanie (Charles) Hinson, Justin (Hannah) Martin, a great-grandchild, Lily Hinson, sisters: Eunice (James Mack) Morton, Judy Andrews, Marie (Johnny) White, brothers, Ronnie (Sandra) Hatchell and John (Evelyn) Lowery.

She was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.

Mrs Martin was a warm and caring person that never met a stranger.She was always smiling and had something nice to say to whom ever she met.She had a way about her that always made you feel good after talking with her. She will be greatly missed by all of us. Roy I just want you to know that Debra and I are thinking about you, your dad and your family at a time like this. We will keep you in our prayers.

Earl and I were so sorry to read this morning of June's passing. I know my mom, Maxine Patterson, will especially miss your wife and mom. They were dear prayer partners. We will miss knowing she joined us praying for so many joys and needs. She was an incredible lady.

Roy, Terry and Herbert I am out of state and just learned about June.Sorry I cannot be there. I will always remember her for her sweet smile and how quickly she always forgave us for the many times we kept her awake. She holds a special place in my hear.

I have the best memories of June from my childhood days. My brother Edward and I used to spend a lot of time in her home, since our father worked across the street at the railroad office. She was always so kind and sweet. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
