James Player Obituary
James Nicholas Player, age 33, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018. A memorial service will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 6 in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 3:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, and following the service at the home of Lynn and Marshall Rogol, 308 Cashua St. Darlington.
Born February 15, 1985 in Jacksonville Florida, Nick is the son of Lynn Herington Rogol and the late James Calvert Player, Jr. Nick played sports for Darlington High School and served in the U.S. National Guard. He loved his family and friends and never met a stranger.
Surviving are his parents, Lynn Herington (Marshall) Rogol of Darlington; daughter, Greta Elizabeth Massey of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Thurston (Ashlyn) Clark Munn, Jr.; sister, Jacqueline (Mike) Jameson Atkinson; maternal grandmother, Patricia Gainey Gregory of Florence; maternal grandfathers, Edward E. (June) Herington of Vero Beach, and Ray (Paulette) Scott of Florence; step-fathers, Clark Munn and Ross Walizer; aunts, Lisa (Greg) Scott Suggs, Elizabeth Herington-Smith, Mary (Norman) Stuart Player King, Simms (Scott) Player Dempsey, Tammy (Dean) Munn Edwards; great-aunts, Cheryl Herington Bates, Daisy (Don) Gainey Godwin, Joby Gainey Jackson and Barbara Jean Gainey; uncles, William (Wendy) Munn, William (Isabel) Herington, Jeff (Rita) Herington, great uncle, Ernest (Shirley) S. Gainey and many cousins.
Nick was preceded in death by his father, James Calvert Player, Jr.; grandparents, Stuart and Jim Player, Teresa and Bill Munn; uncles, Mark Munn, Arnold Ray Scott, Jr and A.H. "Sonny" Gainey, Jr.
