Donald Waddell Obituary
Donald Eugene Waddell passed away on June 15, 2017 due to complications after surgery. He was 62 years old. A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, June 18th in the chapel at Belk Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 2-3 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Don was born in Darlington, SC and graduated from St. John's High School in 1973. He worked at Wellman Industries for almost 34 years and was currently employed at PolyQuest in Darlington. Don was the son of the late Gerald M. Waddell and Sylvia Waddell Bryan.
He was predeceased in death by his brother, Gerald (Jerry) M. Waddell, Jr., his sister Diane Waddell Boley and his father Gerald M. Waddell.
Surviving are his wife of almost 40 years Tonia Parnell Waddell, his mother Sylvia Bryan, his step-dad Bill Bryan, his sister Kathy (Teddy) Evans, brother-in-law David (Greta) Elliotte), sister-in-law Debra (Alan) Reed and sister-in-law Tara Waddell; and his mother-in-law, Joanne Elliotte of Darlington.
Don was a wonderful husband, brother, son and friend. He loved fishing and had many good times with his brother Jerry and close friends Phil Miller, David Tucker, Ronnie Garrison and Shane Johnson. Don was adored by his nephews Jason Evans and Jeff Boley and took them fishing whenever he could. His nieces Jennifer and Allison also loved their Uncle Don and checked on him every day while he was at MUSC. He had a special relationship with his brother-in-law David Elliotte and they talked almost daily about boats and fishing. Don was especially good to his mother-in-law Joanne Elliotte who will miss him dearly. Don loved his family and friends and would do anything for others. He stayed in touch with childhood friends Russell Street and Darlene Street Kirby and also a friend from high school Doug Helton. He was a hard worker and had a great sense of humor. Don will be thoroughly missed by all who knew him.
